I've always been a boot girl. I grew up in the country and my boots were always hand-me-down cowboy boots. I'm in the city now and bought my first pair of dress boots and I love them! I waited a while before posting this so I could put them through their paces.First, size. I needed a boot with a squared toe so my toes don't get jammed. I like my boots one size too large for added insoles for comfort and when I need thicker socks such as winter. I could not find this combination until I found these boots. They fit great right out of the box. There is no space for added insoles; I'm pleasantly surprised that the insoles are good enough. I could down size because of this but I still like roomy toes and thick socks, so this is good..Second, the soles. Great traction.Third, the heels. I wanted a heel larger than my old cowboy boots but not too large since I'm not used to heels. These are great!Fourth, the leather. Great quality. I spent a week wearing these in the house to break them in and they are forming to my feet like gloves.Fifth, the calf. I don't understand the complaints about the calf. I have so much extra space I can shove my hand down the inner shank and pull my sock up if I needed to. I'm of the opposite opinion; I think the calf is too big because of the added fabric (I must not have read that part in the description). I wanted a tighter fit. But this is not a deal breaker for me. They still look good, feel good, so it's a plus.Sixth, waterproof. Someone had asked if the boots were waterproof and the answer was no, but I have to respectfully disagree. I live where it rains all the time (Seattle, WA). If you take care of your boots properly, you won't have an issue with water. Keep them properly shined; the oils and wax will help repel water. Water doesn't actually soak through leather, it dries it out. So keep them oiled and shined with quality leather shoe shine products. The real problem with water is where the sole meets the foot: that's where you could step in a puddle and find the water leaking in. Here's a tip from an old hand: if you think you'll be slopping through puddles or living in perpetual rain like Seattle, you can seal the area where the sole meets the leather: use a thin strip of AD&E ointment just along the point where they meet. It is an oil-based product so it repels the water until it wears off. If you walk through water deep enough to hit the zipper, I suggest rubber galoshes.Final verdict: Love to the Nth degree. These are my new favorites. You get what you pay for, so if you need boots, this is a great option (save your pennies if you have to).The foot bed part fits as expected. I liked the heel height. However the circumference of the calf was too big for me and I had to return these boots. I wear a 7.5 shoe. I am (almost 5’5” tall 123# and my calf measures just under 13.5” with socks around the biggest part. I wanted these to be sleek in the calf so they’d look nice with a skirt, maybe they’d fit ok if I intended to wear them over jeans. I feel like I’m just a regular size person but I’m having trouble finding Dress boots that aren’t too big in the calf area. I bought some casual boots of another brand that lace up the back so they’re adjustable and I love that!I like these boots. They are nice looking and the heel height is just right. They were a little tight on my calves, as I am just on the edge of needing wide calf boots. Because of the stretchy fabric in the back, I was able to make these work, although they feel a little tight. The length runs a little big in my opinion, but I am keeping them. They are comfortable and I was able to walk a fair distance in them on the very first day I had them. They are not quite as comfortable as several other pairs of Clark's that I haveThese boots are so comfortable. They came right on time ??The leather is of a quite cheap quality. The boot is very comfortable a little snug around the calf but not uncomfortable love these bootsProduct has knit backStylish, comfortable, well-made. I bought an 11 since so many shoes I'm buying online are fitting small - I'm usually a 10 - but with a pair of thickish socks these are great. Very happy with these boots, and I get loads of compliments on them.J’adore ces bottes ayant le style cavalier et féminin à la fois. La semelle est confortable et silencieuse quand je marche.I wanted to love them, but they were too long. I chose the correct size and still had an inch at the end of my feet. They looked like wide calf rather that wide in the foot area. Too bad. Had to return them.
